Why “Project SABR”?

The word “Sabr” (صبر) in Arabic means patience, perseverance, and steadfast faith — a powerful reminder to remain strong and compassionate through life’s challenges.

At Project SABR, this name reflects the heart of our mission:
to serve humanity with compassion, empower individuals to overcome hardship, and build unity across Southern California through acts of service and hope.

Over the years, our foundation has consistently delivered a wide range of impactful community programs, including monthly food distributions, entrepreneurship workshops, sustainability initiatives, sports programs, workforce development, and health and mental wellness awareness.

Our vision is to build a stronger, more united Los Angeles — a city where no neighbor goes hungry, every family has access to essential resources, and communities stand together in service to one another.

Our motivation is rooted in the universal values of compassion, service, and justice — values shared across all faiths, cultures, and communities.

  • Monthly Community Workshops that inspire, educate, and empower.

  • Support Services for low-income families and individuals to help them access basic needs and opportunities .

Looking ahead, ProjectSABR is working to expand our programs by launching:

Our Primary Goal is to establish a Dedicated Local Facility where we can host these programs and continue providing vital services and support to all walks of life in Southern California .

    Neighborhood Food Drive

Providing easier, consistent access to fresh food for low-income families and individuals in our community.

Our Monthly Food Distribution is one of the core programs of Project SABR’s mission to fight hunger with dignity and compassion. Every month, we set up a welcoming, organized distribution where families can pick up essential groceries, produce, and nutritious items—completely free of charge.

    This initiative is designed to:
Support low-income households facing food insecurity or rising living costs
Ensure families have regular access to healthy, reliable food options
Relieve financial pressure, allowing individuals to focus resources on rent, bills, and daily necessities
Serve neighbors with dignity, respect, and a no-questions-asked approach
Create a consistent lifeline for those who often fall through the cracks of government assistance

Backed by dedicated volunteers and community partners, our distribution serves hundreds of families each month. From single parents to seniors to working-class households, we aim to make sure no neighbor—regardless of race, background, or belief—is left without the food they need.

Through this program, we strive to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected Los Angeles where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

  • Community Workshops

Creating opportunities for people to learn, grow, and develop meaningful skills that inspire progress and strengthen every aspect of life.

Our Community Workshops are designed to empower individuals of all ages through hands-on learning, real-world guidance, and supportive mentorship. Each workshop focuses on building practical skills—from personal development and financial literacy to career readiness, wellness, and creative expression.

    These sessions provide:
Accessible education for low-income families and underserved neighbors
Skill-building tools that improve confidence, independence, and long-term success
Safe, welcoming spaces where participants can ask questions, collaborate, and discover new opportunities
Community-driven learning, led by experienced mentors, professionals, and volunteers
Programs that uplift, helping residents strengthen their families, careers, and overall quality of life

Our goal is to ensure every person in our community has access to the knowledge, resources, and support needed to thrive — regardless of background, income, or circumstance.

These workshops don’t just teach skills; they build dignity, purpose, and hope.

  • The Vault Academy by Project SABR

The Vault Academy is a fully free, community-driven youth training program designed to give every child—especially those from low-income families—access to high-quality sports development. Powered by Project SABR, our mission is to remove the financial barriers that prevent kids from reaching their full potential.

    Each session provides:
    Fundamental basketball skills training
    Structured on-court development
    Youth mentorship and character-building
A safe, supportive environment for growth

Open to young athletes ages 10–18, the program runs once a week for one hour, led by our Head Coach and supported by dedicated volunteers. The Vault Academy is more than training—it’s a pathway to discipline, confidence, leadership, and community.

Our long-term vision is to secure a dedicated facility in L.A. County where our youth can train, learn, and thrive.

Where skill meets opportunity — and every kid belongs.

  • Weekly Homeless Food Drives

Every Friday at 10:00 PM, Project SABR volunteers come together to head into Skid Row and serve our unhoused neighbors with dignity, warmth, and compassion.

During our Friday Night Outreach, we:

Distribute warm meals to those sleeping on the streets

Provide hygiene kits with essentials like soap, toothbrushes, wipes, and more

Hand out blankets to offer comfort and protection against the cold

Check in on people through conversation, kindness, and human connection

This is more than a food drop—it’s about showing up consistently, reminding people they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

If you would like to volunteer, support, or learn more,
send us a DM on Instagram: @project.sabr

Come out with us on a Friday night—small acts, big impact.

  • Islamic Burial Assistance Program

Project SABR is committed to supporting families across Southern California who are unable to afford the costs of an appropriate Islamic burial for their loved ones.

Losing a family member is already heartbreaking—no one should face the added stress of financial hardship during such a sacred and emotional time. Our Burial Assistance Program helps ensure that every Muslim, regardless of financial situation, is laid to rest with dignity, respect, and in accordance with Islamic tradition.

    Through this initiative, we:

Provide financial assistance for families struggling with burial expenses

Help coordinate proper Islamic burial services and essentials

Offer compassionate guidance to families navigating a difficult and overwhelming process

Work with trusted funeral homes and community partners to ensure each burial is handled with care

Our goal is simple: to stand with families in their moment of need and ensure that no Muslim is denied a dignified burial due to financial limitations.
